Glass seed beads, pearls, Peruvian chrysocolla, jet, shisha mirrors
The Lady of Shalott
was immortalized in Tennyson's 1842 poem, loosely based on the
Arthurian legend of Elaine of Astolat. The Lady of Shalott was
cursed to watch the world from a high tower only through her looking
glass and weave the things she saw reflected in it. When Sir
Lancelot passed by, the Lady was tempted to look at him directly, and
the curse then caused her death. This necklace has the shisha
mirrors and tapestry-like patterns to represent the Lady's curse, and
jet tears to mourn her fate.
